Selected Work

My work moves between political writing, feminist research, community education, and the design of spaces where people can think and act together. Across those settings, I return to a shared question: whose knowledge counts when institutions claim to speak about people’s lives?

Political writing and research

Who Names the World? Anti-Imperialism and Iran’s Political Prisoners · 2026

Beginning with the words of Iranian labor activist Keyvan Mohtadi, this essay examines an international open letter written after Israel’s bombing of Evin Prison and the arguments that followed it. I ask how solidarity can oppose foreign military violence while remaining accountable to Iranian political prisoners, workers, and feminist thinkers as authors of political analysis in their own right.

Vijay Prashad’s Iran · 2026

This essay examines how an anti-imperialist framework can lose sight of class struggle and state repression inside Iran. Through a close reading of a public declaration and the politics surrounding it, I consider whose voices become authoritative in international debates and whose organizing disappears from view.

Securing Women’s Rights · Sojourners, 2011

Written after conversations with women in Afghanistan, this piece considers the distance between promises to secure women’s rights and the insecurity produced by war. The women I met described education, safety, and political possibility through the conditions of their everyday lives.

Community education and practice

Social Innovation and Education: An Cosán Virtual Community College · with Thomas Murray

This coauthored chapter examines educational inequality in Ireland and An Cosán’s effort to extend community education through blended learning. We consider whether technology can widen access while preserving the relationships, dialogue, and care that make education transformative.

ReflectionAction: Participatory Methods · 2021

A public presentation from a participatory learning course I facilitated. The session introduces shared agreements, reflection on identity and experience, and the idea that participants create knowledge together rather than simply receive it from an expert.

Health equity and public learning

Healing in Community · LifeSpring Health Systems, 2024

I assembled this public learning series on racial trauma and equity through the healing arts, in collaboration with community partners and speakers. Its sessions brought together questions of emergency medicine in Palestine, Black maternal health, disability, gender identity, decarceration, and harm reduction. The linked announcement documents the series and credits my role in putting together the lineup.

Women of Iran: A Feminist Perspective · public talk, 2024

A presentation for the Louisville chapter of the Fellowship of Reconciliation. The organization lists the talk and links to its recording in its archive of past events.
